Woodville's First
Fire Truck 1929 Model 91 American LaFrance Pumper Woodville purchased a Model 91 - 500GPM American LaFrance Pumper from the Union Supply Company of Toledo. This truck was used by the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department until 1957 when it was sold at an auction to the Neopolis Fire Department who used the truck until 1977. The truck was then sold by Neopolis Fire Department to James Austin of Wyoming, Michigan. In September of 1983 the Woodville Volunteer Firemen purchased the truck back from Mr. Austin with money raised by selling $100.00 no interest certificates, redeemable in five (5) years. After being gone for over 26 years, the truck was returned to it's orignal state. The engine was completetly rebuilt and all of parts of the truck were cleaned. On July 27, 1986 the truck was entered in the Greenfield Village International Antique Fire Apparatus Association Muster, held at Greenfield Village (Michigan). The truck was awarded first place for the Best Restored Early Vintage Fire Truck. |
